SisteRs Kreations & Treats:
A Business Built on Faith, Family, and Resilience
For Lisa Comer and her daughters Robyn and Kelly, baking has always been a part of their lives. But in October 2020, it became something more.
What started as a shared love of creating and baking, became the inspiration for SisteRs Kreations & Treats, a family-run home bakery specializing in custom cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and confections. Though each woman has a full-time career outside the baking business, they’ve found a way to blend their talents to build something meaningful.
“We may be in different places, but when it comes time to bake, we come together,” Lisa says.
SisteRs Kreations & Treats is more than a bakery. It’s a symbol of perseverance, purpose, and family that was born out of love and loss.
Turning Pain into Purpose
Lisa and her daughters never imagined they’d start a business in the wake of tragedy. However, when Ray Comer, Lisa’s husband and the father of Kelly, Robyn, and Derek, passed away from COVID-19 on August 29, 2020, everything changed.
After battling the virus together, Lisa recovered, but Ray’s condition worsened. His loss left a huge void in their family, one that could have easily pulled them under.
“We knew we couldn’t stay in a dark place,” Lisa says. “We needed something to focus on, something positive to pour ourselves into.”
During a conversation with her daughter Robyn, the spark for the business truly ignited.
“She said, ‘Mom, I was thinking about starting this business at the beginning of the year, but maybe now is the right time.’”
That idea, something they had once considered for the future, suddenly became exactly what they needed in the present.
Only two months after Ray’s passing, Lisa, Robyn, and Kelly combined their skills, and SisteRs Kreations & Treats was born.
Baking became more than a passion for these strong women, it became a way to heal, reconnect, and move forward as a family.

Faith at the Heart of It All
Faith is at the heart of everything Lisa does in life and business, guiding her through every triumph and trial.
“This business wouldn’t have been possible without God,” she says. “Every step of the way, we’ve felt His presence, guidance, and blessings.”
From the beginning, Lisa and her daughters have leaned on their Faith to navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship.
“There were moments of doubt, moments where we weren’t sure how to make it all work,” she admits. “But we kept trusting, praying, and pushing forward.”
That Faith has carried over into their business philosophy, shaping how they serve their customers and how they view their journey.
Lisa plans to add a Bible verse to their business cards as a testament to the role Faith played in their success. “With God, everything is possible,” she says. “We’ve seen that firsthand.”
A Family Business That Defies the Odds
Unlike many bakeries, SisteRs Kreations & Treats isn’t a full-time operation, but that hasn’t stopped it from thriving.
All three women work full-time jobs outside the business, balancing their careers with their passion for baking.
“We all bring different strengths to the table,” Lisa explains.
Robyn has a knack for tweaking recipes, always finding new ways to enhance flavors and creating unique combinations that set their treats apart. Kelly is the decorating expert, bringing cakes and cookies to life with stunning designs and intricate details that elevate their creations.
And then there’s Lisa. She’s the glue that holds it all together. Lisa oversees operations, ensures every order meets their high standards, and keeps the business running smoothly.
“Each of us has our role, and we work together to make it happen,” Lisa says. “That’s what makes this business special. It’s a family effort, through and through.”
Despite their busy schedules, they’ve found a way to make it work by traveling between South Bend and Indianapolis to fulfill large orders and cater special events. “We may be in different places, but when it comes time to bake, we come together,” Lisa says.
Honoring the Past, Creating for the Future
As a Black, female-owned bakery, SisteRs Kreations & Treats brings more than talent to the table, it brings history, culture, and tradition.
Lisa credits generations of bakers before her, from her mother to her grandmother, for inspiring many of the recipes they use today.
“I still have my grandmother’s old recipe box,” Lisa shares. “A tin box with handwritten cards, filled with the flavors of our past.”
That connection to family and heritage is what makes their treats special. Each cake, cookie, and confection is made with love, passed down through generations, and infused with the flavors and techniques that have stood the test of time.
Overcoming Challenges, One Cake at a Time
Running a business is never easy, especially when balancing full-time jobs, family responsibilities, and the demands of entrepreneurship.
For Lisa, one of the biggest challenges has been scaling back their offerings.
“When we first started, we tried to do everything,” she admits.
“But we quickly realized that being too broad wasn’t efficient.”
Over time, they streamlined their menu, narrowing their focus to the items customers love most. Cakes and cupcakes remain the heart of their business, offering endless flavor possibilities and creative designs. Cookies and cake pops have also become a staple, allowing for custom decorations that make every order feel personal. For those looking for rich, indulgent desserts, their trifles and chocolate-based treats have become a customer favorite.

By focusing on quality over quantity, they’ve perfected their craft and consistently deliver excellent results, ensuring every bite is as memorable as the last.
A Legacy of Love and Resilience
Faith, family, and perseverance have shaped SisteRs Kreations & Treats into a symbol of strength, love, and new beginnings.
“Ray may not be here physically, but he’s in everything we do,” Lisa says. “His memory and love is in every cake, cookie, and moment we spend together in the kitchen.”
For those looking for desserts made with love, tradition, and purpose, SisteRs Kreations & Treats is ready to serve. Their cakes, cookies, and confections are crafted with the same care, creativity, and Faith that have guided them from the beginning.
